Inventory

February 25, 2006

Well, the company decided to do inventory this past Saturday but instead of having me drive to the Pennsylvania store they asked me to audit my own store in Fairfax Virginia. That put me in a bit of an awkward position because I would be auditing and writing about the people who manage me on a daily basis. We started inventory about 5:00 pm Saturday and did not go home until 4:30 am Sunday. I was back at 10:00 am Sunday to review the findings. That was the same morning I got the call about my dad having a stroke. Needless to say, with so little sleep I was a bit of a basket case. Good thing that everyone understood that grown men cry too. Well, we had some issues with the inventory numbers so we worked until 6:00 pm Sunday and I had to spend most of my day off on Monday writing up my reports so they could be overnighted to home office the next day. The numbers ended up being good for our store and my report for the most part was positive.

It is now Friday, dad is doing well, I have gotten some sleep, and I finally have a day off and some time to update my blog. Tammy and I went out to an authentic Korean restaurant last night. Very good food but I like vietnamese food better. My sister flew to Florida on Wednesday to relieve Adam so he can get back to Tennessee and find a job. I have lots of errands to run today in order to catch up on things around here so I will sign off for now and hopefully add more soon.

Turned Around

February 12, 2006

Well, I got about 40 miles from home and got a phone call that the Pensylvania store will not open today and to turn around. Instead I will audit the Fairfax Microcenter. I took some interesting pictures from the car - lots of trees fallen down, some onto the highway.

What a Beautiful Site - But I have drive 150 miles to Pittsburg this morning!

This is what I woke up to this morning (click on the my photos link). I have to drive 150 miles this morning to Pennsylvania and they got a lot more snow (the news says 21″) in Maryland which I have to drive through. I am glad I have new tires and a front wheel drive car. Well, I better eat a good breakfast and dress warm. I have been asked by the company to audit the inventory at our St. Davids Micro Center store outside of Pittsburg so I have be there by 2:00pm and will work until at least midnight. They have a room for me in a nice hotel near the store. I will go back to the store Monday morning and then drive back here. Wish me luck!

Take a look at my pictures

I have posted pictures that Tammy’s younger sister just emailed from Vietnam. I sure do love the colorful clothes. I hope to wish him happy birthday in person in July when we go to Vietnam.

By the way - more pictures

February 9, 2006

I forgot to mention in yesterdays post that I put up some pictures of our trip to Florida. Just click on my link to view the them. Looking at the pictures makes me feel tall - I wonder why? We got to pick oranges from Mom and Dad’s tree and have fresh squeezed juice. Picked a lot of lemons also and brought those home so we can make lemonade. Work is going good and this Sunday I will drive to Philidelphia to audit our Micro Center inventory in that store. Makes me proud that they selected and trust me to do this job. I will stay in a hotel near the store and this gives me a chance to see my third Micro Center store. I cannot believe that on April 15th it will be 4 years with Micro Center. Well, I just heard the dryer buzzer so I better go fold clothes and get ready for work.

Florida

February 8, 2006

Just a quick note before running to work. Tammy and I had a great time visiting mom and dad in Florida this past weekend. The trip started a little rough with Tampa experiencing the 4th heaviest rainfall in recorded history when we flew in Friday so we had to spend 4 1/2 hours sitting in the plane on the runway in Tampa before we could even get to a gate. Our 12:30 arrival turned into a 6:30 arrival but we made it. Visited the flea market - Tammy loved it - and we looked at investment real estate. Had nice weather the rest of the trip. Flew home Monday evening.

Tomorrow Florida!!

February 2, 2006

Well, what a nice couple of weeks. Last week it was Adam’s visit and tomorrow Tammy and I fly to Florida to spend four days with Mom & Dad. The weather forecast is not all that promising with temperatures only in the low 70’s Tomorrow and Saturday and only 58 Sunday and 65 Monday but we were not planning any beach parties anyway. I did go see Harry Potter with Adam and really enjoyed it. Mom and Dad got a new floor put down in their Florida room and I am looking forward to seeing that and to spending quality time with them. I have to work today from 1:00 pm until 10:00 and then catch the plane tomorrow morning for Florida so I have to go pack now.
