Adam’s Visit

January 27, 2006

What a wonderful delight. Adam drove up from Tennessee on his birthday (January 24th) to visit and to pick up his stuff from me. We visited DC but it was cold and windy so we didn’t stay the whole day. We did see the White House, the National Archives and the Air and Space Museum where we watched an IMAX movie made by Tom Hanks about Man’s visits to the moon. Very well done. We rode the metro to get to downtown. We visited Micro Center and then relaxed in the evening. Yesterday we got up early and took Adam’s car to get a trailer hitch mounted and rent a Uhaul trailer. Stopped by Costco and had the breakfast of champions - pizza. Got him loaded at my place and went to Phil’s house to get his stuff there. Had and nice visit with Phil who turns 100 this April. Tammy and I cooked a nice steak dinner (thanks to mom and dad’s christmas present) and Nguyen and Cloe (Tammy’s nephew and his girlfriend) joined us for a fun dinner. You can see a couple of pictures if you click the My Pictures link. Adam got a call from his mother and the move into her new house has been delayed again so Adam is staying an extra day. Works out great because I have today off anyway. The weather is nice and sunny today so we should enjoy ourselves. He wants me to go with him to see the Harry Potter movie on the big screen. It starts at 12:45 today so I will wake him up shortly. He will leave tomorrow morning (Saturday) to drive back to tennessee. I will try and take more pictures today but Adam is being camera shy. Well, gotta run for now.

Where does the time go?

January 4, 2006

It is now January 4th, 2006. Another year, a fresh start! I am home from work today with a sore throat and have promised myself to spend the day looking for a new job (and taking a nap). My goal is to be in a new job by April 15th. I picked that date because I started at Micro Center 4 years ago on that date. So I am doing a short update on my blog today so that I can focus on my job search. Unemployment in this area is less than 2.5% so there should be lots of opportunity. I want a job that is good for my soul, that I can look forward to going to each day, that provides a decent income and that has normal hours. I have had some wonderful times at Micro Center but the schedule is just too crazy to have any life. I cannot sign up for classes or take weekend trips or even schedule medical appointments easily. I hope my new position will allow me the opportunity to feel good and provide a positive contribution to those I interact with. Well enough for now. I need to work on the job search.
