Back To Work

October 21, 2005

Well, I went back to work on Monday and today is Friday. I have tomorrow off (thank goodness). The first day back I felt extremely tired because I was not used to being on my feet. Each day gets easier but I have to admit, I loved being off. I think I will do well in retirement. I stayed very busy but it was doing things I wanted to be doing. I have been searching for the title to Adam’s car which caused me to go through all the boxes I packed when I left Michigan. It was hard to stay focused on the search as I had to wade through about 58 years worth of memories as I took photo albums and all the scrapbooks out of those boxes. I still haven’t found his title but I found my next big project - sorting, scanning and cataloging all those slides, negatives and pictures. As I get them scanned I will post some very special ones so we can all enjoy them - I promise you will laugh and maybe even cry a little. I still have more boxes in storage that I will look through tomorrow. Adam, I promise to stay focused on finding the titile (if I have it).

Wednesday morning

October 5, 2005

Well, it is now Wednesday morning and I have gotten a bit sidetracked. Tammy’s sister was in a car accident Saturday so I spent a lot of my Monday helping take care of their insurance issues, taking Minh and Phil to the police impound lot where the car had been towed to and getting it released to the insurance company. Since Phil is 99 years old and doesn’t hear well and Minh has some issues with the English language (especially on detailed matters like insurance claims) I was happy I was off work and could help. The positive side is that I picked up the Corvette from their garage and had a couple of great weather days to drive with the top down. I took it yesterday to be inspected so I can get Virginia plates (my Michigan plates expire November 1st). They put the cars here through a complete inspection - cost me $43 and I have to get the Hundyai done today (I might have to get new tires to pass). Then I have the fun of going to the DMV, getting them titled in Virginia, getting new plates and getting my drivers license reissued for Virginia. I guess I will then be an official resident of Virginia. After 57 years of calling Michigan home it does feel a little strange. I also have to work through some issues with my disablility insurance coverage because my doctors office isn’t very prompt in filling out and submitting the neccessary paperwork. Well, enough for now. Hopefully I can get these issues under my belt and get back to putting the video’s on dvd.

Back in Virginia

October 2, 2005

Well, it is Sunday afternoon. I left Florida on Thursday about 11:00 am and drove half way, finished the trip Friday arriving home about 2:00 pm. It is such a nice drive - exactely 1000 miles - about 14 hours road time but I love driving. The weather here is awesome. My doctor decided that because I do so much heavy lifting at work I should take another week off work so I will not be returning to Micro Center until October 17th. Thank goodness for short term disability insurance. It will give me time to finish putting all the old family videos on DVD and even start scanning in about 35 years worth of slides. I want to organize all my old pictures into albums so I will be busy the next two weeks but it is a labor of love. I read Alexis’s blog and loved the pictures of Bridget. I will put some up here in the next few days. She was such a great dog. Everyone who met her fell in love with her. My sister had three girlfriends all wanting to take care of Bridget when she went out of town. I looked at Birds in Florida and would love to get another bird - we haven’t had the best of luck with our bird pets (accidents and illness claimed a couple of them) but they are great pets. I would like to get something in the small parrot family, maybe a Sun Conure. If I ever move to Florida I will get a bird for sure.
